Quick answer: Every Sweetwick candle is $22. That gets you a 6 oz beeswax and coconut oil candle with a wooden wick, hand-poured in Cleveland, Ohio, with a 40–50 hour burn. It contains no paraffin, no phthalates and no dyes, which makes it one of the few natural-wax candles under $25.
What to look for in a natural candle under $25
- The wax. Most candles at this price are paraffin, a petroleum by-product. Look for beeswax, coconut or another plant wax, and check that the label says so rather than "wax blend."
- Fragrance disclosure. "Phthalate-free" should be stated plainly. Ours is, on every product page and on our ingredients page.
- The wick. Cotton or wood, with no metal core. Sweetwick wicks are wood, soaked in food-grade avocado oil.
- Burn time for the price. At $22 for 40–50 hours, a Sweetwick candle costs roughly 45–55 cents per hour of burning.
Which scent to bring to a housewarming
- Fresh Linen: line-dried cotton and soft musk. This is the safe pick when you don't know their taste.
- Cranberry Marmalade: tart cranberry and orange rind. Festive without being heavy, and good near a dinner table.
- Forest Pine: Douglas fir and cedar bark. For people who don't like sweet candles.
- Vanilla Maple Pecan: maple sugar, toasted pecan and vanilla. The cozy, crowd-pleasing option.
- Fruit Bowl: mandarin, mango and white peach. Our lightest scent, so it works well in a kitchen.

A tip to pass on
Tell them to let the first burn run until the wax melts to the edge of the jar, which takes about 2–3 hours. Before each later burn, trim the wooden wick to 1/8 inch. Full care notes are in our wooden wick guide.
